However, one immediate trend was evident and deserves commenting on… After previous years where Electric Vehicles were displayed as exclusive reveals, this year so many people drove to the event in EV’s that it was easy to just line them up and take their picture.
Electric vehicles are now so mainstream, so popular with new car buyers, that it is no longer any kind of novelty that so many people are using them. Each new driver becomes another advocate for the smooth acceleration, low running costs and relaxing ownership experience that electric motoring brings.
In the lineup were cars such as Tesla Models 3 & Y, VW id4, Peugeot e-2008 and electric Renault Kangoo van. Also in the car park were others such as Polestar 2, Jaguar i-Pace, Volkwagen id3 and many more. There were so many that we couldn’t fit them all in the picture.
You only have to look at the latest year-to-date sales figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders to see that petrol and diesel car sales are falling off a cliff while battery electric vehicles (BEV) are taking over.
So this trend has reached its conclusion. Any arguments against electric cars are now answered with the standard reply… “Well, everyone else is getting on fine running electric cars.” This will be easier for EV evangelists such as me who usually have to give long, detailed answers to objections to these ideas.
Now it’s a ‘no-brainer’.
It is now time to move into the 21st Century and switch to electric. As the social pressure of not polluting as you drive becomes greater then this revolution is set to increase.
While it is true that walking, cycling and even using public transport can be the better option, if you have to drive then it’s best to drive electric.
The time to switch to electric vehicles is now.
