What does it cost?
Your Carbon Charter award remains valid for two years. Costs include the accreditation process and on-going network membership. Prices for a two-year membership are as follows:

Costs are correct from 1st April 2026 and are exclusive of VAT.
Organisation size is based on Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) employees.
How does it work?
To get the ball rolling, fill out the form below and a member of the Carbon Charter team will get in touch with you to discuss your application. We will then issue you with a Service Agreement to confirm the costs and a schedule for delivery.
A member of Groundwork’s Sustainable Business Services team will arrange an independent assessment of all key environmental aspects of your business, your carbon reduction policy and action plan, and calculate the carbon footprint of your business. To do so you will need to provide information about your energy and fuel use and we will support you compile the required information. The assessment is carried out online in most cases.
Once Groundwork has completed your assessment, the Carbon Charter panel will review the assessor’s report and determine the level of award – Bronze, Silver, or Gold. We will inform you of your result and provide business-specific suggestions on how your business can further reduce its carbon footprint.
The panel members are experienced environmental professionals from a range of organisations, including the Environment Agency. This independent scrutiny ensures the Carbon Charter remains rigorous and impartial.
Alongside your certificate and award logo, you will receive your Carbon Charter report which will include your carbon footprint, a summary of your actions to date which have been recognised by the award and some recommended next steps to support your organisation’s continual improvement.
