Tuesday 13th April 2021: Switching from diesel to electric is quite commonplace for road vehicles. But here we have the ferry across the river Yare from Thorpe St Andrew to Whitlington Park looking to make the same journey to low carbon propulsion.
This ferry company are looking to replace the 3 cylinder marine diesel engine on one of their boats with the latest electric drive system. This would not only reduce the fumes polluting this beautiful natural scenery but also be much quieter, allowing passengers to enjoy the peace.
For the future, they have their eyes set on opening a Cafe so that weary travellers can enjoy refreshments in a brunch spot designed from the outset with sustainable sourcing of food and energy / water efficiency at its core.
