Last month’s freezing temperatures meant that extra layers weren’t enough to keep the winter chills away. UK homes are losing heat three times faster than our continental neighbours. The study by intelligent home climate management company tado° found that UK households lost heat at a rate of 3°C in five hours. In comparison, Norway loses heat at a rate of 0.9C and Germany 1C.
So what can you do? We understand that researching efficient home insulation products can sometimes be overwhelming. Therefore, Groundwork East are currently offering Suffolk householders free energy advice over the phone and/or email about how to save money on your energy bills through renewable energy installations.
Groundwork East are a socio-environmental charity working across the East of England to create stronger communities, responsible businesses and greater prospects for local people. This project is in partnership with the Suffolk Climate Changer Partnership, who aim for the county to be an exemplar in tackling climate change and protecting and enhancing the region’s natural environment.
The free energy advice service is available to residents not eligible for the Warm Homes Suffolk scheme. The impartial advice will discuss energy saving options that are tailored to you type of home. Recommendations will depend on your property buy may include renewable energy installations, heat pumps, insulation, glazing, heating controls along with other changes.
