The NHS has committed to reaching net zero emissions by 2040 for the emissions it directly controls and by 2045 across the wider supply chain.
To support these goals, as of April 2026 all suppliers are being asked complete the NHS’s Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment, which requires them to measure, manage and report their carbon emissions while developing credible plans to reduce their environmental impact. This is alongside the existing requirements to provide a PPN006 aligned Carbon Reduction Plan.
