Friday 15th, Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th August 2025: Arrival at this beautiful gem in the Suffolk countryside instantly dispelled any concerns about the relocation to the Sotterley Estate for the 2025 Folk East festival.
This year’s Folk East once again transformed the Suffolk countryside into a celebration of music, community and creativity. Across the three days, the Festival grounds were alive with the sound of fiddles, guitars and voices weaving together old traditions and new ideas.
Families, friends and first-timers gathered to share in the joy, creating a vibrant atmosphere that was both relaxed and electric.
Folk east manages to capture that rare magic of a festival that feels at once exciting, friendly and in some ways full of camaraderie. It reminds us of how powerful live music and shared experiences can be. Beyond the stages, there was a real sense of togetherness. The air was filled with laughter, the aromas of local food and the sight of children dancing barefoot on the grass. Everywhere you looked, there were people discovering new acts, swapping stories or just soaking up the sunshine.
And while the music and merriment took centre stage, the festival’s commitment to sustainability was never far away. As a Partner of the Carbon Charter, Folk East continues to reduce waste and pollution, showing that large gatherings can be joyful without too much overconsumption. Attendees left not only with memories of great performances, but also a sense of pride in being part of an event that celebrates both culture and care for the environment.
